Dear Pro-Life Legislator,

First, thank you for your service to your district. I pray you serve your constituents well. You know as well as I do that you have been given a heavy responsibility as a legislator. This responsibility comes with potentially severe consequences for failing to uphold justice. I don’t mean losing your next election, although that is a very real consequence. I’m referring to the consequences promised by God for not obeying him and his law (Isaiah 10, Psalm 2).

You have been placed in your position by God himself (Romans 13) and therefore you are not primarily accountable to your constituents but to the one true God, the Triune God, Yahweh. In Pennsylvania and the United States, we are a republic built on transcendent law and not a pure democracy where the majority dictates. When it comes to the plight of the preborn, a holocaust far exceeding any other in history, the response of legislators nationwide has been wholly inadequate. This is seen in the fact that every state that “banned” abortion after Roe was overturned, still allows a mother to commit murder against her own child without penalty so long as she does it by herself. This is sinful partiality and therefore injustice. A different form of partiality is seen in the current laws of our state which allow for abortion as long as the murderous doctor and parents obey certain healthcare regulations (i.e. Abortion Control Act).

You are duty-bound by your oaths to the Pennsylvania and US Constitutions as well as to God to provide equal protection of the laws to children in the womb from the moment of fertilization. Until that is accomplished, the injustice of abortion will continue, and God’s judgement will be upon our commonwealth. Your duty before God is not to determine your actions based upon what Josh Shapiro or anyone else may do. God is sovereign and mighty and can cause even Josh Shapiro to have a change of heart and choose to protect the preborn. This is out of your hands and therefore not your job. Your job is simple. Enact just laws and apply those laws equally to all people. Trust God with the outcome of your actions but let your actions be just. If you have not been operating this way but instead have been relying on your own wisdom, pragmatic solutions or what is politically expedient, there is still time to repent and trust God’s providential power over your own worldly wisdom.

We call upon you to obey God by authoring and giving your time and energy to the advancement of legislation that will provide equal protection of law to preborn human beings from the moment of fertilization, allowing them to be protected from murder just as you and I have been. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Think about what you would want done for you if there was a law allowing you to be legally murdered. We both know you’d want that institution totally abolished and not regulated. I look forward to watching you rise boldly, and your name go down in history as a champion for the preborn in Pennsylvania.
